Gaming update: Lords of The Fallen

First off, I just want to apologize to the readers of my blog for not being able to post anything for a long time. Things have been pretty hectic, but when I have time I will be creating new posts more frequently. This post here will be about the 3rd person RPG game called Lords of the Fallen.

Lords of the Fallen is a challenging hack and slash action adventure game that is probably most comparable to the Dark Souls series. It is being developed by CI games and Deck 13 Interactive and is shaping up to be a fantastic RPG. The game takes place in a fantasy world where the player takes control of Harkyn a criminal who is tasked with fighting off the evil entering into the world. Obviously there are much more details about the story that I do not know, but that is the general idea of the story direction. I was most excited about the graphics and gameplay of the game especially since it seems to be paced similarly to Dark Souls.

Although the game is completely unrelated to the series, it has a very similar complex combat system and takes the player through extreme challenges while still being accessible and fun for new players. After watching an interview with one of the developers of the game, it seems the one core idea for the game is to challenge the player as much as possible, without bringing any of the frustration and headache. I have played the original Dark Souls, and it was definitely frustrating to play, especially at first when I had no idea how to play it. I loved its gameplay and mechanics but it does not help you in any way. There was no sense of direction, or help to locate the next checkpoint. I felt completely lost and overwhelmed at times because of this lack of assistance.

Lords of the Fallen seems to change that method by guiding players and informing them of how the game works which will help out many new players who pick up the game. Dark Souls always gave players the sense of accomplishment when defeating enemies, and if Lords of the Fallen can bring that kind of rewarding experience to the game it will be a masterpiece. So far the game seems to be in a class of its own, with its advanced graphics and immersive world. The game has lots of different gameplay options, with all kinds of weapons, armors, and spells that could be a game changer for the player when used properly. There are also incentives to replay levels and bosses, since there are specific challenges to receive greater weapon drops if you can complete them.

In my opinion Lords of the Fallen seems to be a great RPG game that all next-gen consoles are desperately in need of. It has the potential to completely redefine this style of RPG and take it to the next level. It looks to bring a refreshing take on a fantasy universe while delivering high quality action and skill building as well as challenging the player to be the best they can be. I cannot wait to get my hands on the game and actually start building up my own character. Lords of the Fallen is set to be released on October 28th, 2014,in North America, and on October 30th, in Europe, and is coming out for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Feel free to post your comments in the reply section, and let me know your thoughts on the game. Also please let me know what would be a video game post you would like to see in the future?
