Happy Valentines Day Gamers! Since today is the holiday of love, why not share with you the top games I would love to get my hands on this year. With the crazy number of new games on the horizon there is a lot to be excited about but there are a select few that have my attention a bit more than the rest. Here are the top 5 upcoming games I would LOVE to play right now.
1. Guilty Gear Strive
The Guilty Gear series is one that I am not particularly familiar with, but I have played a few older games from the series. This newest entry is being developed by the creators of the game Arc System Works and it looks STUNNING. Arc is also behind the ultra popular Dragon Ball FighterZ and Blazblue fighting games. While I’ve always been a fighter fan, I’ve never really fully appreciated them until late last year when I got heavily invested into Dragon Ball FighterZ. Arc System Works did a phenomenal job with that game and Guilty Gear Strive is looking to replicate another incredible fighting experience. With their expertise in fighting games I can’t help but get hyped with the gameplay trailers of the game. I am especially looking forward to playing the characters Nagoriyuki and Ramlethal Valentine. Both characters look incredibly fun to play despite having totally different play styles, but I am still crazy about their designs and combination potential.
2. Black Myth: Wukong
Black Myth: Wukong was revealed last year and blew audiences away with its incredible alpha gameplay trailer. The game is being developed by a Chinese developer called Game Science and this week they launched the official gameplay trailer solidifying the project. While not many people knew this, the original alpha trailer was released by the developer in hopes of finding artists and designers to hire to work on the game. It seems with the new trailer that Game Science is going full force with the project and it is looking fantastic. The new gameplay trailer continues to expand upon what was already an incredible looking game and reveals more about the main characters mechanics, new environments, and new enemy types you will fight in game. The trailer also highlighted the year of the Ox in celebration of Chinese New Year. Black Myth: Wukong is a stunning video game that is looking to capture the player with an incredible narrative, RPG mechanics, amazing boss fights and set pieces, and a hefty combat system. Check out the official trailer here.
3. God Of War: Ragnarok
This one should be no surprise. God Of War Ragnarok was announced in September last year and I was so hyped for the game I had to write about it and discuss my thoughts on the teaser trailer and where the story direction might go. I am still so excited for this game and what Santa Monica Studios is cooking up. If the team manages to hold strong and keep expanding on their amazing talent I am expecting nothing less than another stellar masterpiece from them in this new entry. God Of War Ragnarok is expected to be released sometime later this year. I will be keeping a sharp eye one this one!
4. The Day Before
The Day Before is an under the radar game that caught me by surprise. It is being developed by FNTASTIC and is aiming to fuse elements of third person action shooter elements with survival horror in an open world. Immediately I got Division 2 meets Last Of Us 2 vibes which is amazing. However, it appears to be setting itself apart with a hybrid combat between NPC’s and live players. While Division 2 had the dark zones for PVP, it seems The Day Before will have PVP gameplay as part of the entire experience. In addition it features a looting and crafting system very similar to the Last Of Us series. In this trailer its hard not to see the similarities the game shares with both of those titles, but if done correctly, The Day Before will set itself apart and be an exciting experience with tension around every corner. I am excited to see how this game turns out and hopefully dive into some cooperative sessions.
5. Elden Ring
Finally, the fifth game I would love to play right now is Elden Ring. Elden Ring is being developed by From Software and from what I understand the direction of the game is potentially heading in the direction of an open world game. The Japanese developer From Software is known for their incredible success with the Dark Souls games and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. This new game however, is looking to be much more ambitious and larger in scale in comparison to their previous titles. In addition to being a bigger game overall, the developers are partnering with George R.R. Martin who worked on the Game Of Thrones television series. With all the talent behind the project, it is shaping up to be an incredible and challenging game that will bring a new flavor of fantasy action RPG to the table, and I cannot wait to get my hands on the finished game.

That has been my list for the top 5 games I would love to play at this very moment although sadly I cannot. Thankfully most of them are supposed to be released this year so hopefully it won’t be too much of a wait. Once again I want to wish everyone a happy Valentines day and I hope you all enjoy the day with your significant others and your families. Thanks for reading!
