Here we are again, another year, another valentines day. This particular month of February is pretty unique and special because many titles that were set to be released last year have been pushed into 2022 and a few of them are launching this month. Titles like Elden Ring and Horizon Forbidden West are just a few weeks away and I’m still excited I finally get to enjoy them after all this time. Here’s a quick list of the top games I would love to play this year. Enjoy.
1. Elden Ring
Elden Ring has been on my mind for a long time now, especially after I had finished Demon’s Souls on PS5 last year. Now that From Software is gearing up to launch an open world souls-like game, I cannot wait to get my hands on the title. Elden Ring is looking to provide a new approach to the original formula of that horror/ thriller edge of your seat action coupled with open world exploration and the result looks very promising. Elden Ring will be out February 28th 2022.
2. The Day Before
I’m not entirely sure at this moment if I’ve already written about The Day Before, but this game looks incredible. I am already a big fan of Division 1 and 2 and The Day Before is looking to add some more chaos into a similarly styled third person survival action package. It will feature a huge open world environment, stealth mechanics, looting, co-op PVE and PVP gameplay as well as vehicles and zombie swarms. This one is definitely looking to be a top tier survival action title and I cannot wait to jump into that vicious world. The Day Before is set to launch on June 21st 2022.
3. Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is another entry from Rocksteady games who have created the incredible Batman Arkham series. If Suicide Squad is anything like those previous Batman games, we can expect a truly well written story with awesome and engaging combat mechanics and a whole lot of fun beating up bad guys. Personally I’m interested to see the dialogue between the cast of characters and how each of them contribute to the success of the team. The official trailer reminds me a lot of Guardians of The Galaxy which was really well received and a blast to play. While there is no official date set, it is supposed to be launching later this year.
4. Atomic Heart
Atomic Heart has been on my radar for many years now. From the moment I first saw it in action, I was hooked and drawn in to its universe. Atomic Heart looks like the love child of Bioshock and Wolfenstein. It has gorgeous visuals (probably some of the best of the year) and an intriguing storyline set in a robotic/ zombified post apocalyptic sci-fi world. The whole thing looks gritty, creepy, visceral, and completely stunning and I can’t wait to explore its freaky world. Atomic Heart is set to release in the 4th quarter this year.
5. Forespoken
Finally, the last game on my short list that I would love to play this year is Forespoken. I’ve had my eye on Forespoken before it had gained its current title. It features an awesome female lead character who gets pulled through a portal into another dimension, and gains these incredible abilities. She is able to traverse the world almost like Spider-Man and has multiple elemental powers that are simply insane. While so much of Forespoken is unknown, it actually reminds me of a more enhanced and fantastical version of the game Prototype. Personally Prototype was one of my favorite video games back in the day and Forespoken is drawing me into it world in a similar way. Truthfully I think it has potential to be one of the best open world super hero styled games out this year. Forespoken is set to launch at May 25th 2022.
If you’ve made it down to the end of this list thank you so much for sticking around. There were so many other titles I wanted to include in this short list so I’ll add a few honorable mentions: Horizon Forbidden West, God Of War: Ragnarok, S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 Heart of Chernobyl, and Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin. Thanks again for reading this post and please feel free to let me know what are your top 5 games you would love to play this year, I’m interested to hear what you think!
